Enlace Estepona-Etiopía: Hace dos años cuando estuvimos en Nekemte la última vez, financiamos con dinero del Enlace un proyecto puesto en marcha por las madres y un padre de niños discapacitados de un colegio de primaria. La idea era fabricar, padres e hijos juntos, hornos para consumir menos leña y venderlos. Así, los niños aprenderían una destreza y, a la vez, se generaría algunos ingresos. No éramos muy optimistas de que funcionaría. Fue una alegría tremendo en esta visita ver que ha probado ser totalmente sostenible y que ahora fabrican ladrillos también. Las fotos muestran una madre y un padre trabajando en la fabricación de un horno de cemento y un horno que nosotros compramos para la familia donde nos alojamos funcionando dos años después. Two years ago when we were last in Nekemte we financed with money from the Enlace a project set up by parents of handicapped children in a primary school to make fuel-efficient stoves. This way, the children would gain a skill and the ovens could be sold to generate income. We were not very optimistic that it would work, so we were delighted on this visit to see that the project has proved to be completely sustainable and that they are also making building blocks. The photos show a mother and father working on a cement oven and the one we bought two years ago for the family on the compound where we stay which is still working fine.
